A Year Older A Year Wiser or Reunion?

Glutinous rice balls or better known with the Chinese as 'Tang Yuan'...if you're wondering what's that strip of thing in the middle, it's ginger : )

I asked mum a long time ago about us having to consume this desert towards every year end (not that it's difficult to savor, in fact, I LOVE it!) Well, she just said that it's for us to grow a year older and wiser. There's also a story that people in the olden days used to work hard for the whole year and do not have time to return for a family reunion. Thus, this festival (the name of the desert actually imply REUNION in Chinese) was created a month before the Chinese New Year to gather relatives to prepare for the celebrations...

Enough said about this desert, the very first item prepared from our new induction cooker. Also, there's the fried rice which took 'Hon' 1 1/2 hours to prepare. Tasted good, no doubt, but I was so hungry that I've already gulped down a bowl of our desert before it was ready.

Of course we had something else to compliment the already ever tasty fried rice...

Never knew that 1kg of this spicy cabbage could cost up to RM36 a bag....

Frozen Kimchi...Good things comes with a price I guess...

Hundred years of blissful togetherness

This wedding couple doll was a gift from our reception guests. We actually wanted to get something like this on our own but remembered sis mentioning that this kind of stuff should come as a present from others...happy that it's ours now....thanks to our thoughtful guest.

Our wedding lamp is so-called traditional as we did not want an electric or battery operated one. But, it's not an ordinary oil lamp either as we couldn't get it to lit with oil alone....had to use turpentine instead.

Night shot of our lamp in action!

Then, there's our wedding car decoration using flowers bought earlier...

More flowers...classic cream rose hand bouquet....with berries added to our request...berries thrown in FREE from the florist : )

And...shoes to match...bought at the very last minute. Not that I did not buy any earlier....bought too many in fact, but, prefer using this comfy low platform pair.

More Preparations...on teapots and boxes

Been really busy these couple of weeks....just wanted to put up some pictures of our stuffs here...

Got this at a bargain....went scouting for teapots all over and finally settled with this...parents asked about the phoenix and dragon symbol on the pot but we figured that we wanted something more contemporary....the tray on the other hand was bought at a Chinese wedding customary shop in KL....traditional yet modern finish....

Tried covering the box using only ONE piece of wrapping paper and ended up getting this!

More Stuff for Wedding

As it's getting closer to our wedding date, we have more and more things to do (yup, blogging more about wedding too)....more or less completed decorating our room...didn't manage to take any picture as we were rushing back here. Anyway, was looking everywhere for a set of bowl and spoon (already bought chopsticks)....the ones for weddings comes readily packed in sets of four...

we only needed two...hence bought something more practical.....

Also, managed to get artificial flowers for the car...decided not to use bears or other plush toys thinking that flowers look more classy....

Betrothal Gifts DIY

It didn't take us much time to DIY the basket and groom's platter....however, we spent days looking for stuffs for the platter. Yes, we know....these gift sets are available off the rack in shops but it would be more meaningful doing it on our own, plus....we get to save some money!

Even the ribbon ball was DIY-ed, definitely worth the effort : )

Wedding Preparation Checklist

Came up with this list about 3 months before our wedding date. It was very useful in tracking stuff yet to be done....no idea exactly how can I upload excel (.xls) files onto this page so here's a .bmp format of the file....you are welcome to request an .xls format from me if required.....

Home Cooked Yummies

Can't remember exactly when was the last time I cooked. I very much like to experiment on new recipes but don't have the time and space for it....actually don't have a kitchen of my own yet, so can't do much...anyway, managed to try out these two dishes with whatever was available in the fridge....
my very own mix of sweet & sour chic...

french bean omelet.....notice the platter behind which is also french beans...left over from the omelet...decided to make another dish for variety sake....

Reds in A Box

Been wondering for a long time how would the love cards turn out.....much prettier than what I expected....especially love the box. White with a strip of pink hearts ribbon.....
The quality of the poker cards were extremely good too....don't think that it could be use for playing though....some suggested the cards to be framed but I think they look elegant just this way....

Roses Everywhere

Just love flowers.....took these while selecting wedding hand bouquet....
Flower stand from someone's wedding reception.....

Rolls-Royce

My neighbour has this really cute parrot....yup, Rolls-Royce....that's his name.

We all love playing with him especially when he's in a good mood, otherwise he will just ignore us completely. He must think we are idiots always trying to make him talk...he talks whenever he likes and not just to entertain us.....smart Rolls-Royce, elegant and posh just like his name talks just like an active little kid....he screams like a baby, loves playing with water (oftens swings himself out in the rain), says 'hello' so sweetly, babbles to himself and dances when he's happy and calls out to anyone jogging around the park in front of our house.....

Anything at All!

Well, the title says it all....Anything at all! It's an Anything blog. I don't usually write much and neither do I talk much (just the opposite of this little green parrot...she was really noisy when we visited her), but why am I here?Just suddenly got this idea of posting up some things which I love...and as for my blog's title....it came from a Chinese phrase which goes 'sui bian'....an answer we all used most, be it in Mandarin, Hokkien ('cincai') or English...hehe...ok (I'm the one using it most!) Anyway, do hope to write more later....thinking to write about shoes as I've been searching all over for a suitable pair of wedding shoes....I know it's easy but when we consider the budget, height, design and colour....it's a headache alltogether....
